Summary
A plumber, Afoni︠a︡, is a bullying drunk who extorts money and drinks from people living in a poorly built state owned apartment block in the Soviet Union. Knowing that his neighbours need him, Afoni︠a︡ feels powerful and untouchable. He spends most of his "working" day in bars with his buddy drinking beer and eating crawfish and salted fish. Nothing can change his behavior until he falls in love with a young nurse who insists that he treat people better
