- "二十世纪初的中国内忧外患,灾难深重,中国的进步青年上下求索,探寻救国救民的道路。在开明人士的倡议下,他们开始把目光转向欧洲。一场轰轰烈烈的留法勤工俭学运动就此拉开序幕。1919年前后,蔡和森、向警予、赵世炎等先后奔赴法国。他们在法国勤于做工,俭以求学,并积极与李维汉、聂荣臻、陈毅、李立三等其他中国学生互相研讨,逐步形成了各自的学生联盟。不久,周恩来以记者身份来到法国,不久成为进步学生的核心。邓希贤与远房叔父邓绍圣及同学李火镰、耿照泉等人从四川经上海来到法国。在法国巴耶中学,邓希贤开始了解西方工业文明,开阔了眼界,但因学费不够,被迫退学。从此,邓希贤和伙伴们开始了艰难的工读生活。他们颠沛流离,四处找工作谋生饱受资本家的剥削和压榨,也由此认识到了资本主义制度的黑暗和本质。在施耐德工厂做工期间,邓希贤结识了赵世炎等人,逐步接触马克思主义思想。1920年底,法国陷入经济大萧条,北洋政府却削减留学经费,留法勤工俭学生的生活陷入极大困顿。在谋生存、求真知的过程中,青年学生发生了思想上的大激荡,人生道路也逐步开始分化......"--Container
