- David, is a hapless waiter, who chances upon an unpublished manuscript of a novel in a dresser he buys at a flea market. To impress a girl, he claims to be the author of the manuscript. When the novel becomes a literary sensation and the real author surfaces to talk to David about their newfound predicament; David's guilt becomes very stressful
