- Summary
- In this Spanish edition of the first illustrated album written by a DACA recipient - a dreamer - Areli Morales recounts her powerful story as an immigrant. At the grandmother's house -in the mountains of Mexico- Saturdays were full of relatives and plenty of sun. Areli was good at hide and seek and even better at chasing chickens. When Areli was just a baby, her mom and dad moved to New York with her brother-Her-Alex-hers in search of a better life for her family. When Areli entered preschool, they sent someone for her too. Everything in New York was different: big, fast, and loud. Areli spoke almost no English and her companions accused her of being illegal. But over time and slowly, Areli became a New Yorker. . . she is not yet a US citizen. "Here she could do whatever she wanted," Areli told the city sky one day. One day I will succeed. This is a moving story - evoking that of millions of immigrants who are an integral part of our country - about a girl who lives in two worlds, a girl whose DACA application was eventually approved and who is now living the American dream
