Summary
"Historically, the mainstream academe has failed to recognize Asian Americans. The very existence of the Asian American Studies (AAS) Department challenges the neglect of and inaccurate protrayals in our educational institutions. AAS courses emphasize the importance of community involvment and critical resitance to mainstream society's distorted depictions of Asian Americans and their history. This weekend, Stan Francisco State University's Asian American Studies Department is commemorating the 30th annivesary of the Third World Student Strike. Expected at this nationwide even will be faculty, studients and various community leaders. This is an opprtunity for the community to learn about the issues which faced our brothers and sisters thiry years ago and about the new and continuing issues that face us today. It is a gathering for the past and the present to dialogue about the future."--Page 1
