- "1948年,一个女婴降生在端家大院。这让盼儿如命的端五爷气坏了,他把端氏卖回妓院,娶回了“添香阁”当时最红的头牌小金花;胆小懦弱的有财在端家药铺做帐房伙计。秀儿和有财私定终生,却被她爹换卖掉,换了大烟泡儿。毕有财做梦也没想到端五会把女婴强塞给他,措手不及做了爹。小金花为了怀孕向毕有财借种,不久就找到机会如愿以偿。酒醒后的有财后悔不已,他想逃走,却被端五拦住做了账房的先生,等把一屋子黑帐算完,走出门的时候,偌大的院子只剩下了金花一个人解放军进城,端五逃走了。从此,他就再也走不出这个院子了。此后的六十年里,毕有财在这个院里先后娶了金花、桂花和文秀三个女人,养了婉芬、惠儿、建国、天佑、添乐五个孩子,见到何美、何丽、不懦和顺心四个孙子,被秀儿的丈夫小武以及后来长大的婉芬欺负了一辈子...... 院子里的人家由毕有财一户,变成两户、三户,有患难与共的,也有仇深似海的...... 毕有财的三个女人同时在一个院子里相处过,亲生的儿子和女儿恋爱过,院子被坏人算计过,被天灾临幸过,被有财自己标价出售过...... 孩子们大了,走了,又回来了,有几起几落的、有平凡樸实的、有发疯的、有夭折的、也有光耀门庭的...金花说过,“一个女人一辈子只爱一个男人”毕有财83岁的寿终的时候,嘴里念的是金花的名字。第二年,毕家老宅的拆除工作正式破土动工,按照新一代的主人毕天佑的设想,这里将被开发成一个四合院的院落群体。到那个时候,不知道又会搬进去些什麽样的人,又会开始一些什麽样的故事......"--Container
