Summary
After a long, hot summer, the mouse community's well water has run dry. Grandpa Tomis wistfully recalls a brook that used to run through the farm, and Eckhart, Bridgid and Mavis decide to search it out. Except an abandoned beaver’s dam that is so big now blocks the stream, it defies all their attempts to dismantle it. When all seems hopeless, Eckhart remembers Tomis' advice: small things can make a difference. Eckhart rallies Mavis and Bridgid to help him remove a few small twigs. A trickle of water appears in the gap. A few more twigs, and the trickle becomes a stream, then a torrent. Triumphantly, Mavis, Bridgid and Eckhart surf the revitalized stream home
