- While returning from outpost duty, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Inspector O'Roarke happens upon Grace Markey, the sole survivor of a vicious Indian attack. Upon hearing her story, the naive Mounty Commander Benton believes the Cree are on the war path, not realising the Sioux have set up the confrontation in order to gain allies against the U.S. 7th Cavalry. Only O'Roarke knows the truth and must mutiny in order to save his men and the woman he has come to love
