- Mara (Irasema Dilián) es rescatada de un barco a la deriva por Arturo (Ernesto Alonso), un coleccionista de arte y sus sobrinos, Roberto (Carlos Navarro) y Julio (Carlos Agosty). Inesperadamente Julio y Roberto se enamoran de Mara, sin embargo ambos abandonarán la ciudad para realizar sus estudios fuera de ahí. Una noche antes de que Julio emprenda su viaje, Mara se entrega a él sin saber de su partida. El despecho la lleva a casarse con Arturo. Al regresar, Julio se encuentra con esta dura verdad y hace todo lo posible por recuperar a su amada. La desesperación ante una terrible noticia, es la invitación a emprender un viaje eterno con Mara, en el cual sólo el amor podrá guiarlos
