- Summary
- Academy Award winner Joan Crawford stars as a deeply malevolent woman whose face bears a hideous scar. Desiring beauty above all else, Anna Holm (Crawford) resorts to blackmail to pay a plastic surgeon. The surgery transforms her face ... and her life. The now-beautiful woman finds love and tries to leave her former life of crime. But she cannot escape her past in this taut, psychological thriller. Directed by Academy Award winner George Cukor and based on the Swedish film of the same name and the French play Il Etait Une Fois by Francis de Croiset
